The WSM has a single aim – to get rid of buying and selling and all of the trappings of a market system, by instituting a world of free access, where all work is organised on a cooperative basis and everyone takes what they need from a common store, as and when they require.
This is now a practical option. Workers under capitalism have developed the world’s productive powers to such an extent that paying for stuff is not only no longer necessary but an utter waste of resources.
Yes, capitalism is inefficient! Dangerous too, because competition for natural resources, trade routes and markets is always likely to end in war. And its need for continuous expansion will always put pressure on the environment.
A world of free access can only come about by the action of a conscious majority that has realised that capitalism has built-in features that ensure that its material needs can never be guaranteed.
The role of the WSM is to help to bring about that realisation.
